Read Beyond the Beaten Path participants went to Minions: Rise of Gru on Sunday, July 24th, to celebrate their success in our summer reading program. On Tuesdays from June 21st to July 19th, participants came to the library at 6 pm to hear a outdoor-themed story and complete a fun nature-themed craft to go with the story. The weather allowed us to have two of our five sessions outside on the library lawn. Each week, participants who met their reading goals could put a special outdoor camping badge on their reading log and choose a prize from the treasure chest. At the end of the program, in addition to the opportunity to attend the movie with free admission thanks to the generosity of our Friends of GML, participants received a goody bag and frosty treat. Everyone who attended at least one Tuesday night session had their name put into a drawing for a gift basket. Even though the summer reading program has concluded, the weekly craft supplies from any sessions a participant missed will be at the library for another week.
